How-To Tips & Pointers
Get it, pointers. Like fingers… that point. Okay, so Bucky’s technically a thumb. But we like sharing tips. Like our financial empowerment tips on how to budget, stay out of debt, be a responsible consumer and buck the norm. Or, even more importantly, how to draw a face on your thumb.
How to Draw Bucky
First, start with a good marker. A black felt tip or ball point pen might do the trick. A pencil is a definite no-no. But ideally a black Fine Point Sharpie® brand permanent marker is going to be the best way to get a face that will show up in your pictures.

Second, start drawing. Draw Bucky’s face on the thumb on the hand you don’t usually use. For instance, if you are right handed, you’ll probably want to use that hand to snap your picture, and draw Bucky on your left hand (unless you have a lovely photographer’s assistant, i.e., friend or family member with nothing better to do but take your picture for you.)
Here are three easy steps to draw a Bucky Face:- slanty-shouty-mouth, like an irregular sideways triangle, or a wedge of cheese
- left beady eye-ball
- right beady eye-ball

Voila! A masterpiece.
How to Take a Good Facebook Photo

A really good profile pic looks good even when it’s really small. So that means getting maximum impact from your backdrop and the environment. Here’s some tips:
- make sure your thumb is close enough to see Bucky’s face, it should probably take up about 1/3 of the frame
- shoot where there is good lighting, daytime outdoors is best, but if you can make it work at night with a flash or in a colorful interior space, go for it
- props and extras are always fun… Bucky wearing a little hat, sniffing a little flower, having a conversation with an earthworm, ahhh the possibilities
Local Location Ideas
If you aren’t planning any out-of-state adventures, there are plenty of places to take Bucky’s summer pics:- the playground
- the zoo
- the mall
- the pool
- the art museum
- bricktown
- downtown
- your front flower bed
- on your bike
- in your refrigerator
- in the mirror
- with your favorite [ fill in the blank: stamp, coin, rock, band button ] collection
So get snapping! Your camera, not your actual fingers, because then you might smudge Bucky’s face. You can just take that as a final tip, and good luck!
