Putting Debt into Focus

Being in college, there’s a lot to focus on: school, social life, and work. With all that on my plate, I always like to indulge in some retail therapy. Unfortunately, credit cards make it a little too easy. Just a simple swipe and I don’t have to worry about anything but the minimum payment. Debt is far from my mind and off in a different world.

But let’s face it: debt is in the real world. I know I made my own financial blunders. Perhaps you made some mistakes and you’re paying for them—literally. But in the real world, you can be debt-free, and you can do it yourself. All you need is a little focus.

Here’s a cool website that can help you do that, too. It’s free, anonymous, and super easy to use. You answer a few questions about your income and any current debts, and it will generate a financial analysis that includes debt to income ratios, debt payment schedules, and even offer some suggestions for an action plan. It also gives you an identification number so you can revisit anytime and update your information, and keep track of your progress.

I recently used it and it really put things into perspective. It made me realize I could be more proactive in paying off my credit cards, which would make me that much closer to being debt-free.

Try it out and let us know what you think!
