“You're not really wearing that are you?”
Posted on October 9, 2009The guys are waiting on the elevator and Phil asks Alan this question about his satchel. Alan sees no problem that he’s carrying a man purse, end of discussion.
My point is there are a lot of different types of home loans out there. Fixed rate mortgages. FHA Loans. VA Loans. Adjustable rate mortgages. You have to be comfortable with what fits you best. In Alan’s case he was cool with his satchel. It fit his style. Make sure you find a home loan that fits you.
It can be overwhelming so the best thing to do is start with what you know: speak to someone at your current financial institution. They can provide with good information that will give you an idea of what loan will work for you.
Don’t stop there. Talk to your family and friends who own homes and find out what they did. They should be able to provide you with some solid advice so you can make a smart decision.
I was lucky. I was able to find a mortgage company that a friend had used when they bought their first house. I called the mortgage company up, gave the nice lady all my information and she called me back the next day and told me what that I was approved for a certain amount. I went with a FHA Loan, which is a loan that many first-time homebuyers use. It’s a loan that is easy to qualify for, requires a smaller down payment and usually has very competitive interest rates. For more info about these types of loans go here.
